MRK Talent Solutions are proud to be exclusively partnering with an early-stage media Saa S technology business to recruit a Fractional CFO in London, working on a hybrid basis with London office based work when needed
This job would suit an experienced ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified finance professional to be responsible for partnering with the founder, investor communication, management of the financial plan, and all cash management whilst managing the outsourced accounting once in place.
Our client is establishing its UK operations and has developed innovative technology for the media sector based on the ongoing challenges that the founder has in his previous media career.
The business is preparing for £2M EIS fundraising and putting the financial foundations in place to support its growth.
This offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced entrepreneur and influence the business from an early stage.
The successful individual will be commercially minded, with strong financial modelling and forecasting skills and experience supporting start-up or early-stage or high‑growth businesses.
A background in technology or Saa S will be needed and knowledge of the media industry would be ideal.
Experience in handling investor discussions and challenging financial assumptions will be essential.
A practical approach and the ability to build a close working relationship with the founder will be key.
Responsibilities include
- Act as the founder's finance partner and sounding board, bringing financial challenge and structure to commercial, investment and operational decisions.
- Supporting the SEIS/EIS fundraising process, including investor discussions, financial due diligence and responses to questions on the business plan and assumptions.
- Track performance against the milestones linked to each funding stage, giving the founder and investors a clear view of progress, risks and any changes to the plan.
- Taking ownership of the financial plan and providing practical financial and commercial support to the founder.
- Maintaining and challenging the financial model, forecasts, funding requirements and cash runway as the business develops.
- Establishing appropriate management information and reporting against financial, commercial and operational milestones.
- Advising on pricing, revenue models, investment decisions and the financial implications of the company's technology, intellectual property and growth plans.
- Establishing proportionate financial controls and overseeing the relationship with outsourced bookkeeping, accounting, tax and other professional advisers.
Bookkeeping will be managed separately, allowing the Fractional CFO to concentrate on financial planning, fundraising, investor readiness and strategic support.
The initial commitment is expected to be approximately 3 to 5 days per month for the first six months, with additional time around onboarding and key fundraising milestones.
This is anticipated to increase to approximately 4 to 6 days per month in the second half of the year as the business becomes operational.
There is potential for the role to develop into a permanent, full-time position as the business grows.
Interviews are happening in person in London on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th November.
This is a great opportunity for a Fractional CFO looking to join an ambitious start‑up in the Saa S space.
