We’re partnering with an established ecommerce group behind several much-loved consumer brands used by millions of customers. They’re now looking for an experienced Head of Product Design to join on a 12-month maternity cover, leading design across one of the most important areas of the product.
The Role
As Head of Product Design, you’ll lead design for a core part of the customer experience focused on building stronger customer habits and increasing how often people return to the platform throughout the year. Working closely with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, CRM and Brand, you’ll help shape product strategy, influence roadmaps and ensure experiences across web and mobile are intuitive, emotionally engaging and commercially impactful. Alongside this, you’ll lead and coach a team of designers, raising the bar for craft while creating the conditions for teams to deliver thoughtful, high-quality work at pace. This is a high-impact interim role at an exciting moment for the business, with a preferred start between mid-April and early May.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Define and drive the design strategy for a critical product area.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to shape roadmaps and product direction.
- Elevate the quality of end-to-end customer journeys across web and mobile.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Product Designers.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
- Embed customer insight and data into design decisions.
- Strengthen design standards, rituals and ways of working.
- Ensure design outcomes clearly support business and commercial goals.
About You
You’re an experienced design leader who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on product design leadership. Proven experience leading Product Design teams in fast-paced, tech-led environments. Currently operating as a Head of Product Design or equivalent leadership role. Strong strategic thinker who also enjoys staying close to execution and craft. Experienced in coaching senior IC designers and emerging leaders. Comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Strong understanding of web and mobile product development. Confident working with design systems, Figma and modern design tooling. Experience in loyalty, retention or frequency-driven products is a plus.
