We’re seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (MongoDB / DocumentDB) on a contract basis to play a key role in migrating and modernising a high-profile e-commerce data platform into a new AWS-native environment.

You’ll be accountable for the design, migration and optimisation of MongoDB workloads into AWS DocumentDB, ensuring performance, scalability, security, and full alignment with internal database standards and change controls. This is a hands-on role for someone with deep MongoDB expertise and proven experience delivering cloud migrations into AWS DocumentDB.

Person Requirements
  • 8–10+ years’ experience working as a DBA / Database Engineer (NoSQL focus preferred)
  • Strong experience with MongoDB (on-prem or self-managed environments)
  • Proven experience migrating MongoDB workloads to AWS DocumentDB
  • Strong AWS experience
  • Experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) or similar tools
  • Working knowledge of Agile / Kanban environments
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver the migration of MongoDB databases into AWS DocumentDB, ensuring compatibility and performance
  • Assess and remediate feature gaps/differences between MongoDB and DocumentDB
  • Plan and execute data migration strategies using tools such as AWS DMS
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to support application changes required for DocumentDB compatibility
