We have a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst to support a major operational systems replacement programme.

This is a pivotal role within a complex technology transformation, helping shape the requirements and business processes that will underpin the selection and implementation of a new enterprise Saa S platform.

What's the role?

Working across two distinct legacy operating environments, you will help the business understand current processes, identify opportunities to harmonise ways of working, and define a consolidated set of requirements for a future platform.

Partnering closely with technology, operations, architecture, delivery, and external vendors, you will bring clarity to a highly complex environment and ensure requirements are robust enough to support vendor evaluation, solution selection, implementation, and adoption.

If you are comfortable unpicking complex operational processes and turning ambiguity into clear, actionable requirements, this is a chance to play a central role in a strategically important programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead business analysis activity across a major core systems replacement programme, from discovery and current-state assessment through to vendor selection and implementation.
  • Map and document complex end-to-end operational processes across two different legacy platforms and associated business areas.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate and harmonise processes while recognising genuine operational differences that the future solution must support.
  • Elicit, challenge, prioritise, and document functional and non-functional requirements for a purchased Saa S solution.
  • Create a clear, consolidated requirements set to support market engagement, RFP activity, vendor evaluation, and solution selection.
  • Work closely with the Solution Architect to align business requirements with integrations, data flows, dependencies, and future-state architecture.
  • Facilitate workshops with operational, technology, data, and senior stakeholders, resolving conflicting requirements and driving decisions.
  • Support fit-gap analysis and challenge unnecessary customisation to ensure the selected platform remains scalable and supportable.
  • Maintain traceability from agreed requirements through vendor responses, solution design, testing, and implementation.
  • Person Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst on complex system replacement, modernisation, consolidation, or Saa S implementation programmes.
  • Strong background defining requirements that underpin a formal vendor selection, procurement, or RFP process.
  • Experience operating within complex, process-driven environments; logistics, parcel delivery, freight, transport, or supply chain experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Excellent process-mapping, requirements elicitation, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to understand technical dependencies and work effectively with architects, delivery teams, data specialists, and third-party suppliers.
  • Confident challenging established processes and distinguishing essential requirements from historic ways of working.
  • Strong written communication, attention to detail, and ability to create clear documentation for both business and technical audiences.
  • Next Steps

We are looking for someone who can quickly understand a complex operating environment, bring structure to competing requirements, and help shape a future platform that supports simpler, more consistent business processes.

Finer details

  • To be considered, you must be immediately available or able to start at short notice.
  • Location: Hybrid working, with 2 days per week onsite in Liverpool.
  • Contract length: 6 months, with potential to extend.
  • IR35 status: Outside IR35.
  • Rate: £450 per day.
