Delivering the people agenda for a complex, multi-disciplinary construction and engineering business.

We are supporting a national contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-profile infrastructure and built environment projects across the UK.

Operating within regulated, safety-critical environments, the business combines technical expertise with a consistent track record of delivery for major clients.

As Interim HR Director, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering a pragmatic, operationally focused people strategy.

Reporting to the Board and leading a lean HR team, your focus will be on translating HR activity into meaningful, on-the-ground impact across sites, regional teams and central functions.

This is a hands‑on leadership role, centred on supporting operational performance.

Key priorities will include strengthening attraction and retention across site‑based roles, enabling line managers to lead effectively, developing clear and credible career pathways, and ensuring workforce planning is aligned to project and business requirements.

You will position HR as a trusted, responsive partner to the business — driving engagement, improving capability and supporting delivery across a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce.

We are seeking an experienced HR leader with credibility in complex, operational environments.

Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, utilities or manufacturing would be highly relevant.

You will bring a pragmatic, solutions‑led approach, resilience, and the ability to operate at pace.

This is an opportunity to make an immediate and visible impact within an established contractor as it enters its next phase of growth.
