Kingston University London is seeking to recruit an Energy Manager to develop the University’s energy strategy and lead on operational energy management and energy projects. The Estates and Sustainability directorate exists to support Kingston University’s academic mission and the goals set out in its strategic plan. It leads on strategic planning, capital development, space management, operational sustainability, energy management and biodiversity management, as well as statutory compliance and the operation of the University’s campuses and premises.
We aim to achieve the highest practicable standards of energy efficiency throughout the University’s estate and ensure that operational energy costs are minimised. We lead the development and implementation of decarbonisation plans, actively contributing to the net zero carbon agenda. In all activities, we embed sustainable practices through our choice of methods, materials and technology.
The Energy Manager provides University-wide leadership for the operational management of energy, with a primary focus on reducing CO2 emissions while ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and industry best practice. The role will lead and manage the University’s utilities budget (circa £5m) and is responsible for forecasting budgets and reporting expenditure across gas, electricity and water consumption for all University premises.
The role holder will work collaboratively with Estates and Sustainability colleagues on matters relating to the estate and the delivery of operational energy management improvements and plans. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in energy and utilities management, with technical expertise and a sound understanding of building engineering services, including renewable energy technologies. We are seeking an individual who will thrive on developing and implementing energy management and carbon reduction strategies across a diverse and complex estate.
