About the Role
The Head of Commercial Operations reports to the Chief Executive Officer and sits on the Senior Leadership Team. This senior role leads the Union’s commercial and building services strategy, overseeing a portfolio that includes commercial services, events and entertainment, facilities management, and health and safety. The postholder drives long‑term commercial strategy, focuses on sustainable income growth, service improvement, and development of new opportunities aligned to student needs, ensuring that services and facilities are continuously enhanced, efficient and fully compliant.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Union’s commercial and building services strategy and oversee a portfolio including commercial services, events and entertainment, facilities management, and health and safety.
- Drive the long‑term commercial strategy focused on sustainable income growth, service improvement, and new opportunities aligned to student needs.
- Oversee significant budgets and ensure delivery against strategic objectives.
- Build and empower high‑performing teams, fostering a collaborative culture and driving organisational change.
- Ensure services and facilities are continuously enhanced, efficient and fully compliant.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in commercial or operational leadership with a proven track record of delivering strategic outcomes in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi‑functional teams and influence partners across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills; proven ability to build partnerships.
- Experience in retail, hospitality, or leisure is welcomed.
