MRD Recruitment is working on behalf of a leading food manufacturing business in Coatbridge to recruit a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join a successful manufacturing environment, supporting the reliability and performance of production equipment across the site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance activities, fault finding and continuous improvement support to ensure production equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Shift Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of production equipment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will provide effective fault diagnosis, repairs and preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and minimise production downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across production equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and complete repairs efficiently.
  • Respond to breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Accurately record maintenance activity using the site's CMMS system.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maintain output.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with health safety, food safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across engineering areas and workshops.
  • Support operators with basic asset care and equipment understanding.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled engineer who enjoys working in a busy manufacturing environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality maintenance support.

Essential Skills

  • Time-served apprenticeship with a recognised engineering qualification.
  • Previous experience working as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience delivering both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
  • Good understanding of health safety and engineering best practice.
  • Experience using CMMS systems.

Desirable Experience

  • Food manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement environment.
  • PLC fault-finding experience.
