Materials Planner (BBBH430) Falkirk, Scotland

MRD Recruitment is currently recruiting a Materials Planner to join one of our Manufacturing clients based in Falkirk on a full-time permeant basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner to play a key role in ensuring materials are available to support production while maintaining optimal inventory levels.

The Role

Reporting to the Materials Manager, you will be responsible for planning and managing material requirements to ensure production schedules are achieved without interruption.

You will work closely with Procurement, Production, Warehousing and Suppliers to ensure the right materials are available at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage material requirements in line with the production schedule.
  • Raise and manage purchase requisitions or purchase orders where required.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock while minimising excess inventory.
  • Expedite supplier deliveries to prevent production delays.
  • Review material shortages and implement recovery plans.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters and material master data within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including delivery accuracy and lead times.
  • Work closely with Procurement to resolve supply issues and identify alternative solutions.
  • Liaise daily with Production to understand changing manufacturing priorities.
  • Analyse demand and material usage trends to improve stock availability.
  • Participate in inventory management activities including cycle counts and stock optimisation.
  • Produce planning reports and monitor key supply chain KPIs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the planning function.

About You

To be successful in this role you will ideally have

  • Previous experience within a Materials Planner, Production Planner, Supply Planner or Inventory Planner role.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP planning systems.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships across multiple departments.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
