Mechanical Maintenance Fitter - Kilmarnock
MRD Recruitment is working on behalf of an established industrial manufacturing business in Kilmarnock to recruit an mechanical Maintenance fitter/mechanical engineer.
Salary: £19.52 per hour (c£38,000 basic)
Shift premiums: 40% back shift / 33.3% other shifts, taking earnings to approximately £43,000-£44,000 depending on shift pattern.
The role:
- Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance
- Breakdown fault-finding and repair
- Maintenance and improvement projects
- Working within a continuous-process manufacturing environment
- Equipment including compressed air systems, furnaces, heating systems, rolling mills, gearboxes, motors and pumps
- Use of CMMS systems
- Permit to Work
- Supporting 5S, Lean and Kaizen initiatives
We're looking for:
- Time-served Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Engineer
- Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
- Strong industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience
- Experience in continuous-process environments would be advantageous
- Ability to interpret hydraulic and pneumatic drawings
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
Desirable experience:
- Machining / turning
- Welding / brazing
- IPAF
- LOTO
- Rigging and slinging
- FLT
- Gas
- Lean / 5S / Kaizen
