The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology wishes to recruit a new Research Group Leader (6-year Tenure Track) to the Division of Structural Studies. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding scientist with innovative ideas to address long-term fundamental biological questions through the study of macromolecular structure at the molecular and/or cellular scales.

Areas of interest include biology‑focussed research and/or methods development, using experimental and/or computational approaches, on topics that complement and synergise with existing strengths in the Division. You will hold a PhD and understand the value of developing your highly original, independent line of research from within a world‑leading core‑funded laboratory with a uniquely collaborative and collegial environment.

We offer generous funding to tenured and tenure‑track group leaders, including for start‑up, consumables, equipment and staff. We also offer free access to our well‑supported in‑house facilities, which include electron microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, X‑ray crystallography, light microscopy, mass spectrometry, biophysics, cell sorting, cell culture, high‑performance computing, and electronic and mechanical workshops.

The LMB has a collaborative working culture and state‑of‑the‑art building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. We have on‑site parking, cycle enclosures and excellent public transport links to the site. We have a staff restaurant with roof terrace and access to a Campus nursery and sports and social facilities.

You will be eligible to join our defined benefit pension scheme, a holiday entitlement of 40.5 days per annum (including bank holidays and privilege days) and a generous employee discount scheme.
