Technical Facilities Services Coordinator in Cambridge

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge (LMB) is an internationally recognised scientific research institute.

We are looking to recruit a full‑time Services Coordinator to join the Estates and Facilities (E&F) team.

You will support the E&F Manager and Deputy Chief Operating Officer by ensuring that the LMB buildings on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Babraham Research Campus are maintained to a high technical standard.

Working within a team of Services Coordinators you will play a key role in maintaining a resilient management structure for the facilities.

Day‑to‑day, this means prioritising, scheduling and assigning both planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance tasks to E&F technicians and external sub‑contractors, while also overseeing the delivery of capital and resource projects from initiation through to completion.

You should possess a professional qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering services and experience in management/supervision of facilities management staff or contractors.

You will have a robust understanding of the facilities management processes and all associated technical systems as well as experience reviewing and resolving complex issues within these.

Your experience should also extend to project management and technical/IT skills related to navigating Building Management Systems.

We are looking for a well‑organised and proactive individual, with strong communication skills, who can work effectively as part of a team.

You should be able to work on your own initiative and manage your time effectively with minimal supervision.

You should demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure, balancing multiple projects and adhering to deadlines.

The LMB buildings, on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Babraham Research Campus, are required to be maintained and kept fully operational 24/7, to meet the scientific requirements.

You will be required to be available on‑call out‑of‑hours approximately 6‑8 weeks per year (on a rota basis).

You must hold a UK driving licence and live within 45 minutes of the main LMB building.

Opportunities to work paid overtime are also available.
