The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is a leading institute for biological research and the four research divisions, Cell Biology, Neurobiology, Protein and Nucleic Acid Chemistry (PNAC) and Structural Studies, work together as a close-knit community.
Through joining this community, we aim to enable scientists of Black heritage, who are brimming with potential and passion for molecular biology and biomedical sciences, to grow their scientific experience. The LMB is committed to improving representation and providing role models for future generations of scientists.
Responsibilities- Appoint two Black heritage Postdoctoral Scientists into a 3-year Rising Talent Fellowship.
- This is a training and development position suitable if you have recently completed your doctoral studies or are due to complete within 6 months, or are an early career researcher moving into a new research discipline and/or needing to further develop research skills.
- Be assigned to a specific group and work with LMB Group Leaders to ensure strong scientific alignment with the LMB programme.
- Help determine the direction of the project within its three-year lifespan in discussion with the Group Leader.
- Present scientific work at seminars within the laboratory and at external meetings.
- Contribute to the preparation of research for publication, including drafting scientific papers.
- Engage in opportunities to participate in the Institute’s scientific activities and training opportunities.
- Adhere to the Institute’s collaborative working culture and benefit from its facilities and resources.
There is some flexibility in working hours to accommodate personal circumstances. There is also provision for maternity, paternity, shared parental or adoptive leave. Let us know if you have any requirements.
Location and facilitiesThe LMB has a collaborative working culture and a state-of-the-art building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. On-site parking, cycle enclosures and excellent public transport links. A staff restaurant with roof terrace and access to a Campus nursery and sports and social facilities are available. Eligible to join the defined benefit pension scheme and holiday entitlement of 40.5 days per annum (including bank holidays and privilege days). A generous employee discount scheme. The Institute provides training and development opportunities including support towards role-related qualifications.
