The Molecular Brain Mapping research group at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (Cambridge, UK) seeks to solve fundamental questions of biological computation. The group focuses on the brain’s hardware components across information levels—from circuits to synapses and their molecular nano-architecture—using a new paradigm of “molecular connectomics.”
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop technologies to enable molecular connectomics datasets with multimodal molecular information across scales and functional dimensions.
- Extend the group’s capabilities to integrate additional information channels.
- Use and further develop expansion microscopy for optical connectomics.
- Apply existing molecular tools (e.g., immunostainings, viral neuron barcoding) to read out multiple information channels covering all classes of biomolecules and cellular function states.
Qualifications:
Hold a PhD in neuroscience, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related field (or be expected to complete one within 6 months). Equivalent experience and qualifications may also be acceptable.
