Position Overview
We are looking to recruit a full-time Maintenance Engineer to join the Estates and Facilities team on a permanent contract.
Salary and Working Hours
Starting Salary £33,419 - £37,582 per annum (plus opportunities for paid overtime). The role is open-ended and full-time.
Location
MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, UK.
The LMB buildings on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Babraham Research Campus must be maintained and kept fully operational 24/7 to meet scientific requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide electrical or mechanical planned and preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance (RM) on all plant systems and services.
- Operate the computer‑controlled Building Management Systems (BMS) to monitor fault diagnostics and take appropriate action to resolve faults.
- Oversee operation of steam boilers and systems; training will be given as required.
- Be available on‑call out‑of‑hours approximately 6‑8 weeks per year on a rota basis.
- Hold a UK driving licence and live within 45 minutes of the main LMB building. Opportunities to work paid overtime are also available.
Qualifications
- Completed a recognised electrical or mechanical apprenticeship or hold the equivalent qualifications.
- Experience working in a complex building with responsibility for electrical or mechanical systems and using a BMS.
- Good working knowledge of engineering services, building maintenance and HVAC systems.
- Competent IT user, team player who can also work independently with limited supervision.
- Substantial experience may be offered a salary at the higher end of the advertised scale.
