We are looking for 2 Assistant Accountants at our Cleckheaton, Bradford office.
Please note: Ideally, you will live within a reasonable commuting distance of our Cleckheaton office or be willing to relocate to the area at your own expense.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Assistant Accountant supports the centralized accounting team to meet financial reporting and compliance deadlines on a periodic basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not all inclusive):
- Support on data analysis and operational reporting for wider international business.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of accrued expenses and prepaid items to ensure proper period-end adjustments.
- Regularly reconcile control accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Assist in the preparation and entry of journal vouchers to record financial transactions accurately.
- Conduct periodic reconciliations of inter-company balances and transactions to maintain alignment between entities.
- Compile necessary data and complete VAT returns in compliance with statutory requirements and deadlines.
- Help prepare year-end financial information and coordinate with external auditors during audits.
- Support internal controls testing and documentation as part of quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts.

- Support payroll processing activities to ensure relevant accounting posted are reflected on the general ledger.
- Carry out assigned GL activities, maintaining integrity and accuracy of financial records.
- Work proactively and positively within the wider finance team to achieve shared objectives of standardization and continuous improvement of financial processes
- Identify opportunities and assist in the implementation of process improvements to enhance business operations
- Provide support on additional tasks and projects as required by management.
Education, Experience & Ability Requirements
Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be considered.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency, with strong overall IT skills
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is advantageous
- Quick learner, capable of adapting to new systems and processes efficiently
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, effective at all organizational levels
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented and methodical in approach
- Flexible and adaptable, able to perform well in a dynamic and evolving environment
