An elite international law firm is seeking a Conflicts and New Business Associate Manager to join its London office. This is a key operational role supporting the delivery of new business intake, conflicts clearance and AML processes across the UK and EU. You’ll work within a collaborative, collegiate environment with a strong focus on service excellence and responsiveness.
The Role
Working as part of the UK and EU Conflicts and New Business team, you will supervise a group of Conflicts and AML Analysts, ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of conflicts, AML and matter‑opening workflows. Alongside managing workload allocation, coaching and quality control, you’ll remain hands-on with live matters where judgement, urgency or complexity requires your direct involvement. Success in the role centres on operational reliability, strong stakeholder management and the ability to guide, challenge and support partners and colleagues within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set clear daily and weekly objectives for team members to ensure timely delivery of work
- Allocate and prioritise workloads to meet operational deadlines and urgent intake requests
- Provide day‑to‑day coaching, guidance and technical support to team members
- Monitor quality and consistency of output, reviewing work prior to escalation
- Oversee and, where required, conduct conflicts searches and apply sound escalation judgement
- Oversee and, where required, perform AML due diligence and risk assessments
- Oversee preparation and submission of New Business Forms and resolve queries to avoid delays
About You
- Strong operational understanding of conflicts, AML and new business intake processes
- Experience supervising junior professionals within a compliance, risk or intake function (ideally within an international law firm)
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities in a high‑volume environment
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain policies and challenge constructively
- Familiarity with tools such as Intapp, S&P Capital IQ, Orbis Bureau van Dijk and WorldCheck
