We are working with a leading global shipping company that is seeking a Legal Counsel (Claims) with 3-5+ years PQE to take ownership of dry shipping claims in a fast-paced, high-performance trading environment. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and resolve high-value dry shipping claims, including demurrage, off-hire, deadfreight, and general damages.
• Take a hands-on approach to aggressively pursuing claims while finding commercial solutions to avoid formal proceedings.
• Work closely with key stakeholders across Legal, Chartering, Operations, Post Fixture, and Technical teams to coordinate claims strategy.
• Negotiate settlements effectively, protecting the company’s commercial interests and ensuring swift resolution.
• Engage with P&I Clubs, external counsel, brokers, and insurers to optimise claims outcomes and insurance requirements.

Key Requirements:

• 3-5+ PQE as a dry shipping litigation lawyer from a top-tier law firm, P&I Club, or high-quality in-house team.
• Deep knowledge of charterparty disputes and dry shipping claims.
• Commercial mindset – ability to balance aggressive claims pursuit with strategic business considerations.
• Resilient, sharp, and decisive, thriving in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment.
• Strong negotiation skills, with an ability to resolve disputes efficiently and effectively.
