Our client, an elite international law firm, is seeking a Risk & Compliance Lawyer to join its London-based Office of General Counsel. This is a compelling opportunity for a qualified lawyer looking to transition from fee‑earning or progress within an in‑house risk and compliance function. The role offers exposure to global regulatory, ethics and data privacy matters within a highly collaborative and well‑resourced environment.
The Role
Sitting within the Office of General Counsel, you will support the firm’s regulatory compliance, professional ethics, and data privacy frameworks, advising partners, lawyers and business services teams on a wide range of internal risk matters. You will work closely with colleagues across the global network to ensure alignment on regulatory positions and contribute to the ongoing development of policies, guidance and internal processes.
Your work will span SRA compliance, GDPR and wider data protection issues, client and commercial documentation, vendor assessments, and participation in training and horizon‑scanning initiatives. This role is well‑suited to someone who enjoys varied, high‑quality work in a fast‑paced, international law firm setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on firm policy, professional ethics and regulation, including the SRA Standards & Regulations and GDPR.
- Coordinate the annual practising certificate renewal process and maintain the firm’s SRA account.

- Support data privacy compliance, including internal data flows, international transfers, DPIAs, LIAs and incident response.
- Review and advise on client engagement documentation, NDAs, Data Processing Agreements and questionnaires.
- Assist with client audit and supplier assessment responses.
- Contribute to ethics and data privacy training and support horizon‑scanning activity.
About You
- Qualified lawyer (England & Wales, or another jurisdiction with willingness to sit the SQE), with at least two years’ fee‑earning experience in a global law firm.
- Strong grounding in regulatory compliance, professional ethics and/or data privacy.
- Experience advising on SRA Standards & Regulations and GDPR.
