Legal Knowledge Engineer – AI x Law – Remote (UK-Based)
We are working with an elite US law firm on a unique opportunity to join their AI and innovation venture, where cutting-edge technology meets world-class legal expertise. This is not your typical legal tech role — it’s a chance to sit at the intersection of law, product, and AI, helping to reinvent how legal services are delivered.
The Role:
You’ll be embedded in a small, fast-paced team working in close collaboration with lawyers, engineers, and product specialists. Your mission? Teach AI how to think like a lawyer — and help lawyers think with AI. You’ll act as the translator between legal reasoning and technical design, building and testing tools that reshape legal workflows from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design AI-powered legal workflows that improve speed, quality, and usability
- Draft and refine prompt specifications with NLP specialists
- Translate complex legal use cases into clear technical requirements (and vice versa)
- Test tools in collaboration with lawyers, iterate based on feedback, and configure real-life applications
- Act as a point of contact for internal users, supporting adoption and surfacing opportunities for innovation
- Spot areas for automation and efficiency, and contribute to future roadmap ideas
About You:
- Qualified lawyer with 3+ years’ PQE (private practice or in-house)
- Deeply curious about legal technology and how lawyers interact with it
- Comfortable working across legal and technical teams, and translating between them
- Proactive, solutions-driven, and excited to build new processes and tools
- Strong communicator, especially when simplifying technical or legal concepts
- Interested in emerging AI techniques like prompt engineering or chain-of-thought reasoning (no coding required)
Bonus Points For:
- Experience with legal AI tools such as Harvey, Lexis, Thomson Reuters, or similar
- Background in legal ops, KM, or innovation
- Experience working in agile or startup-style environments
- Exposure to legal service delivery or 0–1 product building
