My client, an iconic household name and international business, is looking for a lead data privacy counsel and DPO to join their in-house function. The role will involve advising on all privacy matters across the business. The individual will be responsible for implementing standards and procedures, and monitoring compliance and data practices. The role will also fulfil the statutory obligation to appoint a DPO.

The successful candidate will have 7+ years’ post-qualified experience gained in a data protection/privacy team at a top-tier city law firm. In-house experience (particularly from a complex, international organisation) is desirable but not essential.

Experience in/knowledge of the following is required:

  • Relevant data privacy legislation and enforcement regimes in the UK and EU, and a good understanding of other major privacy frameworks and evolving legislation worldwide (especially the US).
  • Developing policy and compliance training.
  • Dealing with Data Protection Authorities, governments, and industry bodies.
  • Managing data incidents and breaches.
  • Cybersecurity risks, PCI DSS, and other information security standards.

The successful individual will also have management responsibilities for a team of 3.
