I am working with a longstanding client, a growing Insurance Provider who are looking for an Income Protection Claims Assessor.
About the role
We’re looking for an IP Claims Assessor or a Claims Assessor from a broader Insurance background to join our team, where you’ll play a key role in supporting our customers at important moments in their lives. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll assess Income Protection claims, balancing sound commercial judgement with fairness and empathy. You’ll help ensure we deliver a high-quality service that supports our customers, protects our business, and reinforces our reputation as a trusted insurer.
What you’ll be doing
- Assessing and managing Income Protection claims accurately and in line with policy terms, procedures and claims philosophy
- Reviewing ongoing claims and contributing to effective case management plans
- Supporting customers throughout the claims journey — from approval through to return to work, and sensitively handling declined claims where necessary
- Liaising with medical professionals, financial advisers, and internal teams to gather and assess information
- Building relationships with policyholders through regular contact, helping to deliver a smooth and positive claims experience
- Arranging independent assessments, treatments, home visits and investigations where appropriate
- Producing clear and professional correspondence to a range of stakeholders
- Keeping up to date with industry developments and supporting continuous improvement of claims processes and service.
Risk, compliance and financial crime
- Ensuring all work aligns with FCA Consumer Duty principles and regulatory requirements
- Identifying and escalating risks or potential compliance issues
- Supporting fraud prevention by recognising and reporting suspicious activity
- Adhering to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Insurance Fraud Register (IFR) and Bribery Act requirements
- Accurately recording and maintaining evidence where financial crime is suspected
What we’re looking for
Skills and experience:
- Knowledge of insurance products and claims processes (particularly Income Protection is beneficial)
- Understanding of underwriting concepts and policy cover
- Familiarity with the financial adviser marketplace
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
