We are looking for an Engineering Assistant to join our clients well established engineering team based in Sunderland.
Must have a valid 7.5t Driving License*.
You will be working both individually and as part of a team to improve and maintain engineering standards on site, plant and equipment. These tasks may involve the use and operation of vehicles, power tools or specialist equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily inspection and general maintenance of main infrastructure, including gates and swing bridge, rail, plant and equipment.
- To carry out working at height duties, using a MWEP or a Scissor lift, cleaning gutters, painting, or operating.
- Patrol and inspect allocated routes and assess/report any defects. This will include safety inspections of facilities, if appropriate, carry out the necessary minor repairs or, if external contractors are required, to report in accordance with agreed reporting procedures.
- Undertake key holder responsibilities as and when required.
- To collect parts and equipment from suppliers and service providers.
- To report and record customer requests/enquiries, where appropriate, using information technology, health and safety issues and to report/record evidence of problems.
- To undertake grass cutting and horticultural maintenance, clearing leaves and litter, emptying litter and waste bins, assisting with the assembly, and dismantling of the plant and other equipment, cleaning of plant and equipment, buildings, cabins, changing rooms and toilets, clearing debris from perimeter road and infrastructure, and assisting other colleagues in their work.
This role involves working out doors in all weather conditions and can be psychically demanding due to the nature of the work. You may also be required to work on weekends and Bank/Public holidays, as well as between Christmas and New Year.
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable however full training will be given to the right candidate.
