About the Role: We are looking for a proactive and organised Assistant Transport Manager to support the day-to-day operations of one of our clients' busy transport department based in West Oxfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in logistics or fleet operations who is ready to take the next step in their career. You’ll play a key role in helping manage our fleet, drivers, schedules, and compliance responsibilities—ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our transport services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Transport Manager in planning daily routes and managing driver schedules
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance, inspections, and service records
  • Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, including driver hours, vehicle checks, and tachograph data
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve delivery issues
  • Assist with training, performance monitoring, and driver support
  • Keep accurate records and prepare reports when needed

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a transport, logistics, or fleet management role
  • Strong understanding of transport legislation and compliance (CPC qualification desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Proficient in using transport/fleet management software and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV licence would be a bonus)
