The Electronics Design Engineer role is to support the development of hardware for industrial control and telematics systems.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Design analogue and digital electronic circuits for use in an industrial automotive environment
- Produce PCB layouts (including multi-layer designs)
- Select components and manage obsolescence
- Work closely with embedded software engineers on hardware/software integration
- Support prototyping, testing and product validation
- Liaise with production and external suppliers
- Maintain documentation in line with ISO 9001 processes
Background and Experience
- Experience in electronic design and PCB layout
- Familiarity with tools such as Altium, KiCad or similar
- Strong understanding of mixed signal design
- Practical debugging and fault-finding experience
- Able to take ownership of designs and work independently
Desirable
- Experience in industrial or control systems
- EMC compliance awareness
- Design for manufacture (DFM) experience
- A pragmatic, delivery-focused engineer
- Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team
- Has a more 'hands-on approach' rather than a theoretical design
This is a fully office-based position due to the hands-on nature of the work and access to lab and test equipment. Remote working is not offered for this role. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role due to travel requirements.
