Job Purpose

To develop, lead and grow strategic national customer accounts by developing and executing joint business plans that drive profitable sales, build market share, and strengthen long-term partnerships for the MPM brands. The National Account Manager is responsible for full customer P&L ownership, delivering against revenue, spend & margin targets, and acting as the key liaison between the customer and internal cross-functional teams. This role plays a critical part in developing UK based retailers for MPM and in shaping customer strategy, influencing category performance, and championing commercial excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

This role deals with a wide variety of work tasks including, but not limited to the following:

  • Deliver budgeted KPI's (Turnover £, Spend % & GM%)
  • Leads complex, high-stakes negotiations & annual joint business planning to achieve internal agreement & external sign off to maximize MPM ROI, ensuring spend maintained to ensure profitable growth
  • Monitor, analyze and report Retail Sales Value (RSV) £, Turnover £ & Spend £ & % versus Budget and Outturn on a weekly, monthly and annual basis
  • Leads cross-functional collaboration and escalates key issues for the defined region to the business.
  • Develop and implement robust promotion and pricing plans, by customer, analyzing ROI and amending as necessary
  • Negotiate and implement, alongside the UKEMEA Brand Manager, Trade and Consumer marketing plans
  • Lead cross-functional teams (Category, Product & Brand) to deliver compelling sales propositions, customer range reviews and brand planning sessions, supported by Electronic Point of Sales (EPOS), Customer and Consumer data rationale wherever possible
  • Identify opportunities to drive MPM’s existing and new product ranges, distribution, space and online & in-store presence
  • Communicate regularly, and in a timely manner, with Supply Chain to ensure accurate volume forecasts are shared for base, promotion, new product development and new listings
  • Monitor stock levels and support Business Account Coordinator with communication on supply issues internally and externally
  • Visit stores on a regular basis to ensure a good depth of understanding of competitor and customer activity
  • Support Product to identify development decisions through the analysis of RSV £ and category/customer data
  • Support in the collation of forecast volume & sales impact and subsequent review of actual volume & sales performance as part of Stage Gate process
  • Any other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility of this role

IT literate - Competent to use Excel & PowerPoint along with experience of working with customer data. Full training will be given on in house systems

Focus on execution - ability to assess in-store needs, work with marketing teams to develop pos/media plans for customers.

Financial acumen - understanding of key profit drivers, ways to improve ROI & financial promise.

Time management - Uses time effectively to manage multiple key accounts & customer deadlines.

High level of self-supervision, organization & discipline - full preparation for customer calls, prioritization of work, delivery of meetings, nutritional training & timely agreed follow-up.

  • Minimum of 3 years account management experience in the FMCG sector

Experience in the Pet Care sector
