We are recruiting for an experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a busy engineering team within a well-established manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled Engineer who enjoys a hands-on role, solving problems and keeping production running efficiently. You’ll be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance, responding to breakdowns and helping to improve the reliability and performance of machinery across the site.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responding quickly to mechanical and electrical breakdowns and equipment faults
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance in line with maintenance schedules
  • Diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs to minimise production downtime
  • Recording planned and reactive maintenance using the site’s CMMS
  • Monitoring machinery and equipment condition to identify potential problems before failure
  • Ensuring machinery, utilities and site facilities remain mechanically and electrically safe
  • Supporting engineering improvement projects and identifying opportunities to improve equipment efficiency and reliability
  • Assisting with installation, servicing and modification of production equipment
  • Working safely and ensuring all engineering activities meet Health & Safety and quality requirements
  • Managing contractors and Permit to Work procedures where required
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping within engineering areas

What we’re looking for:

  • Solid hands-on engineering experience within a production or manufacturing environment
  • A recognised Engineering Maintenance apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • At least 2 years’ experience working as an Engineer within a production environment
  • Multi-skilled mechanical and electrical maintenance experience
  • Good mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills
  • Experience of planned and reactive maintenance
  • Experience working with preventative maintenance systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a logical approach to fault finding
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety within an engineering environment
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced production operation
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, high-volume production or packaging environments would be particularly beneficial, although candidates from other relevant manufacturing backgrounds are encouraged to apply
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement or lean manufacturing principles would also be advantageous

Salary & Benefits:

  • Basic salary: £37,497.72 per annum
  • 40% shift premium
