Our client based in Andover has an immediate requirement for a skilled and versatile Field Service Engineer with strong electrical, mechanical and programming capabilities. This is a dynamic, field-based role combining installation, maintenance, fault‑finding, and customer support, alongside involvement in machine build and development.
The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on engineering expertise with added value in electrical control systems and C++ programming for machine functionality and optimisation.
Key Responsibilities- Travel across the UK (and occasionally Europe) to install, service, and repair machinery
- Respond to urgent breakdowns within 24–48 hours
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults efficiently
- Carry out planned maintenance and servicing activities
- Look after your own diary management for PPM activities
- Install new equipment and commission machines on customer sites
- Deliver face‑to‑face training to customers on safe operation and basic maintenance
- Support the manufacturing team with electrical wiring, control panel assembly, machine build and testing
- Assist with development and troubleshooting of control systems, including C++ based programming where required
- Maintain accurate service records and reports
Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer or Field Service Engineer, strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding skills, experience with control systems and basic C++ programming (or willingness to develop), knowledge of wiring, control panels, machine assembly, excellent problem‑solving ability and proactive mindset, strong communication skills with customer‑facing experience and a full UK driving licence.
Applicants will need to be able to be at the Andover office on occasion, but will also be a field‑based role requiring UK‑wide travel and occasional trips to Europe.
For the right candidate we can offer a starting salary of between £35k and £42k per annum, dependent on experience; in time you can also qualify for a profit share scheme. The package also includes 23 days holiday + Bank Holidays, a standard pension and use of a company vehicle.
