Our client based in Lymington has an immediate need for an experienced System Engineer to join their R&D team. We are looking for a candidate with 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role who has expertise in embedded systems to design, develop, test, and maintain specialised computer systems tailored for specific tasks within application-specific products and solutions.
The role will include responsibilities interpreting user needs and capturing system requirements then negotiating the technical requirements for firmware, electronic and mechanical hardware designs, test plan engineering, collaborating with other engineering teams, and ensuring the system is reliable, efficient, and secure.
Main duties to include:
- Develop the overall architecture of embedded systems, focusing on performance, scalability, and power efficiency.
- Clarify requirements for firmware, mechanical and electronic hardware development.
- Negotiate requirements with product management, sales and other stakeholders and communicate these requirements with the project team.
- Integrate software and hardware components to ensure they work together seamlessly.
- Develop and execute test plans to verify that the system meets its specifications and is reliable.
- Work with other teams, including software, mechanical, and electrical engineers, to define requirements and integrate solutions.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the system's design and functionality.
Applicants will have a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field, proficiency in programming languages like C and C++, familiarity with modern OS coding techniques, IP protocols, and hardware interfaces. Knowledge of PCB design tools and electronic design automation software is a must, as is experience with debugging tools and techniques for embedded systems as well as strong problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking skills.
This hybrid position is offered on a full-time and permanent basis with an immediate start available for the right candidate. The hybrid working will require some flexibility but is open for discussion on a project-by-project basis. There is a starting salary of between £50k to £60k per annum on offer dependent on skills and experience, plus a relocation package if required.
