Job Purpose: (short summary of the role)

The Quality Assurance Officer (Operations) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and safety within the facility.

By implementing and maintaining robust quality management systems, conducting audits, and enforcing compliance with industry regulations including food and feed safety and GMP, the officer safeguards the integrity of production processes.

Through meticulous inspection, documentation management, and problem-solving, the officer aims to prevent defects, identify opportunities for improvement, and consistently deliver products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

The role is essential in fostering a culture of quality consciousness and continuous improvement, contributing to the overall success and reputation of the organization.

  • Main Responsibilities: (8-10 key responsibilities)
  • Offering quality input and advice on production issues, and serving as the primary quality point of contact on shift to ensure compliance to relevant standards.

As well as working collaboratively with other departments.

  • Ensuring manufacturing areas and processes are compliant to required regulations.
  • Execute documentation and batch reviews as required with timely approvals of batch events to support release.
  • Inspect and release final products following approved standard Operating procedures (SOPs)..
  • Investigate complaints and monitor CAPAs related to production.
  • Support achieving product release targets with timely batch reviews and disposition of deviations.
  • Lead or support timely investigations of deviations and complaints.
  • Ensure completion of all Quality System commitments and maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Support the internal audit programme
  • Identify and support implementation of continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate audit readiness and address audit findings promptly.
  • Support Senior QA Officers by providing data and assisting in KPI trending,
  • Assist in carrying out training for new team members.
  • Fostering a culture of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality consciousness

Skills & Abilities: (Languages, computer skills etc.)

  • Quality Management Systems: Proficient in implementing and maintaining quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Compliance: Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards (e. g. FEMAS/ISO/GMP) and the ability to ensure adherence to them during production.
  • Auditing Knowledge: Understanding of audit processes and practices to prepare for and participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical abilities to investigate quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Documentation Management: Skilled in maintaining accurate records and documentation related to quality assurance activities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance overall product quality.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with various departments and stakeholders on quality matters.
  • GMP Knowledge: Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and the ability to enforce GMP principles in the production environment.
  • EHS Awareness: Knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) principles relevant to quality assurance activities.
  • Education & Experience: (University degree, work experience, industry, etc.)

Education & Experience

Degree (or equivalent) in a STEM related subject is preferable but not essential

At least 2 years’ experience in a quality role within a Pharmaceutical or Food Manufacturing environment
