We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of advanced mechanical systems and precision-engineered assemblies used within high-performance industrial equipment.
Working across the full product lifecycle, you will be involved in concept development, detailed design, prototyping, testing and production release activities within a modern engineering environment. You will play a key role in refining and developing complex assemblies associated with:
- Automated machinery
- Precision motion systems
- High-accuracy engineered components
- Specialist manufacturing equipment
- Integrated electro-mechanical systems
The role requires strong 3D CAD design capability, attention to engineering detail and the ability to solve complex mechanical integration challenges within a fast-paced technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD tools
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings to recognised engineering standards
- Carry out tolerance analysis and support precision assembly requirements
- Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
- Support prototype builds, testing and engineering investigations
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, specifications and build instructions
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams
- Ensure designs comply with relevant quality and regulatory standards
- Support continuous improvement and future product development activities
- Contribute towards innovation and advanced manufacturing initiatives
Required Experience
- 5+ years’ experience within mechanical design engineering
- Background designing industrial equipment, automation systems or capital equipment
- Strong 3D CAD experience within complex mechanical environments
- Autodesk Inventor; experience with Autodesk Vault for configuration control and release management
- Experience working with PDM/PLM systems for design and release management
- Strong understanding of precision engineering and tolerance analysis
- Experience producing manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation
- Proven application of DFM/DFA principles
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with precision motion or high-accuracy systems
- Exposure to advanced manufacturing or automation environments
- Experience operating within Agile engineering teams
- Interest in emerging engineering technologies and modern digital engineering tools
