The Opportunity
Mploy Group is partnering with an established, digitally focused organisation of around 400 employees, continuing to invest heavily in its e-commerce and online platforms. The development function currently consists of an 11-person engineering team, and they are now looking to appoint an E-commerce Lead Developer to provide clear technical leadership, direction, and ownership. This is a key role within the business, sitting at the intersection of hands-on development and technical leadership, with genuine influence over architecture, standards, and delivery.
The Role
You’ll lead the design and development of a high-traffic e-commerce platform, working closely with product, UX, and commercial stakeholders while remaining technically hands-on.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading development across a C# / .NET backend and React front end
- Acting as technical lead for an 11-person development team
- Setting coding standards, best practices, and architectural direction
- Building and maintaining scalable solutions within an Azure cloud environment
- Supporting and mentoring developers across the team
- Collaborating with non-technical stakeholders to shape delivery and roadmap
- Driving performance, security, and reliability across the platform
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Strong commercial experience with C# / .NET
- Solid experience with React on the front end
- Proven background delivering e-commerce or high-transaction platforms
- Hands-on experience working in Microsoft Azure
- Experience in a senior or lead developer capacity
- Confident owning technical decisions and guiding teams
Desirable:
- Experience with microservices or cloud-native architectures
- Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of platform security, scalability, and performance optimisation
- Previous experience mentoring or line-managing developers
