Product Lifecycle Manager / Product Manager START DATE | ASAP PRIMARY LOCATION | Bristol STATUS | Permanent SALARY I £60-75,000 ABOUT THE ROLE We're partnering with an innovative deep-tech business that has developed world-leading quantum lidar technology capable of detecting, imaging and quantifying emissions, helping industrial organisations better understand, manage and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As the business enters an exciting phase of commercial growth, we're seeking a Product Lifecycle Manager (PLM) to become the voice of the customer internally and the face of the business externally. This is a highly commercial, customer-facing role sitting at the intersection of technology, product and market strategy. Rather than focusing on day-to-day product delivery, you'll own the product throughout its lifecycle, ensuring customer needs, commercial opportunities and evolving regulatory requirements shape the future development of both the company's lidar technology and its cloud-based reporting platform. Working closely with customers, engineering, software, hardware, photonics, electronics and commercial teams, you'll identify market opportunities, understand how customers derive value from the technology and influence future product direction. You'll ensure the product continues to evolve in line with customer feedback, industry trends and changing legislation, balancing technical innovation with commercial success. You'll also play a key role in supporting business growth, representing the company with customers, partners, regulators and industry bodies, providing product expertise during commercial discussions and helping position the business as a recognised leader within the industrial methane emissions sector. ABOUT THE BUSINESS Our client is an ambitious UK deep-tech company developing advanced quantum sensing technology for industrial methane detection. Its proprietary lidar platform enables customers to rapidly detect, localise and quantify methane emissions across complex industrial environments, providing accurate, actionable insight through an integrated cloud-based reporting platform. Combining cutting-edge photonics, optics, electronics, software and advanced engineering, the business is helping organisations across oil & gas, utilities, wastewater, landfill, biogas and other industrial sectors improve operational performance while meeting increasingly demanding environmental regulations. Following significant investment and growing international demand, the company is expanding its product capability and commercial presence, creating an opportunity for an experienced Product Lifecycle Manager to play a pivotal role in its future success. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Own the product throughout its entire lifecycle, from market opportunity through to customer adoption and future product evolution. * Become the voice of the customer across the business, ensuring customer insight directly influences product strategy and investment. * Act as the face of the business during customer meetings, demonstrations, workshops, industry conferences and commercial engagements. * Build trusted relationships with customers to understand operational challenges, emerging requirements and long-term business objectives. * Identify commercial opportunities through customer feedback, market trends and evolving industry needs. * Work alongside commercial teams to support new business opportunities, strategic accounts and customer retention. * Translate customer insight and market intelligence into clear product priorities for engineering and development teams. * Develop a deep understanding of the company's quantum lidar technology and cloud-based reporting platform, becoming a recognised product expert internally and externally. * Collaborate across software, hardware, electronics and engineering teams to influence future product development. * Ensure products continue to evolve in line with customer expectations, technical capability and commercial objectives. * Build expertise in methane emissions legislation, reporting requirements and evolving global regulatory frameworks. * Engage with regulators, standards bodies and industry partners to understand future market direction. * Monitor competitor activity, market trends and emerging technologies to ensure the business maintains a competitive advantage. * Support technical demonstrations, product positioning and customer presentations throughout the sales process. * Work collaboratively with Product Owners and engineering teams to ensure development priorities remain aligned with customer value and commercial goals. * Help shape the long-term product vision through market insight, customer engagement and strategic thinking. ABOUT YOU You'll enjoy spending time with customers just as much as you enjoy understanding complex technology. You're commercially minded and naturally curious, with the ability to understand both advanced technology and the business challenges faced by customers. You enjoy building relationships, uncovering customer needs and influencing product direction through evidence, insight and market understanding. Comfortable speaking with engineers one day and executive customers the next, you'll be equally at home discussing photonics, software, hardware and product capability as you are commercial value, operational outcomes and long-term market strategy. You understand that successful products are built not only through technical excellence, but by solving genuine customer problems and delivering measurable commercial value. EXPERIENCE & SKILLS Essential * Experience in Product Lifecycle Management, Product Management or a similar customer-focused technical product role. * Experience managing complex technology products throughout their full lifecycle. * Proven ability to gather customer insight and translate it into product improvements and strategic direction. * Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of how products create customer and business value. * Experience working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams. * Excellent stakeholder management and customer relationship skills. * Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts. Desirable * Experience within methane detection, emissions monitoring or environmental technology. * Knowledge of industrial sensing, instrumentation or measurement systems. * Understanding of photonics, lidar, optics or laser-based technologies. * Appreciation of electronics, embedded systems, hardware and software development. * Experience working with cloud-based software or data reporting platforms. * Knowledge of methane emissions legislation, environmental regulations or industry standards. * Experience working within regulated industries or complex B2B technology environments. WHY JOIN? This is an opportunity to join one of the UK's most exciting deep-tech businesses during a period of significant commercial growth. You'll work alongside experts in photonics, engineering, software and environmental science to help shape technology with genuine global impact, influencing products that support industrial organisations in reducing methane emissions and improving environmental performance. You'll have the opportunity to influence both product strategy and commercial success, working directly with customers, regulators and engineering teams to ensure innovative technology continues to solve real-world problems. If you're looking for a role where you can combine technical understanding, commercial thinking and customer engagement while shaping the future of market-leading technology, we'd love to hear from you
