We're partnering with an ambitious and highly regarded practice specialising in motor accident litigation (credit hire & debt recovery), now seeking a commercially minded Senior Solicitor to lead performance, drive excellence, and help shape the future direction of the business.

The Opportunity

You’ll combine strategic oversight, team leadership, and hands‑on involvement in complex, high‑value litigation, while enjoying the autonomy to influence how the department evolves. Alongside leadership responsibilities, you’ll remain involved in a quality caseload of litigated matters, ensuring technical excellence and client outcomes remain at the heart of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Litigation
    • Manage a caseload of complex, high‑value claims (£25k - £100k+)
    • Handle Multi Track matters from inception through to trial or settlement
    • Oversee pleadings, evidence, and case strategy
    • Instruct Counsel and drive cases through to successful outcomes
    • Ensure full compliance with CPR and procedural requirements
  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Take ownership of the Litigation Department and help shape its future growth
    • Drive performance, accountability, and a strong commercial mindset
    • Work closely with Directors on key strategic decisions and risk management
    • Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and legal delivery
    • Lead, mentor, and develop solicitors and fee earners across the team
    • Conduct reviews, deliver training, and support career progression
    • Support recruitment and help grow the department as the firm expands
    • Maintain high standards through file reviews and compliance oversight
  • Commercial Oversight
    • Monitor billing, recoveries, and departmental profitability
    • Analyse performance and identify opportunities for growth
    • Ensure efficient case progression and strong financial outcomes

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with a current practising certificate preferred
  • Strong litigation background, ideally within motor claims
  • Extensive experience in credit hire and/or debt recovery
  • Proven experience leading or supervising litigation teams
  • Excellent working knowledge of CPR and litigation procedure
  • Experience managing both Fast Track and Multi Track matters
  • Commercially aware, with a focus on performance and profitability
  • Experience working with insurer clients or panel work advantageous
  • Comfortable using case management systems and legal technology
