Overview

We're looking for a Childcare Solicitor (1-10 years PQE) to join a dynamic and supportive team. You'll manage your own caseload while delivering high-quality legal services to vulnerable clients, including parents, guardians and children (directly or via CAFCASS). This is a role offering real autonomy, flexible working, and strong career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied childcare caseload with minimal supervision
  • Advise and represent clients with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Handle Legal Aid and CCMS processes
  • Prepare court bundles, draft statements, and instruct counsel
  • Conduct your own advocacy where appropriate
  • Supervise and support junior team members
  • Contribute to business development and team growth
  • Maintain excellent client care and service standards

Casework Includes

  • Care, Interim Care & Supervision Orders
  • Emergency & Police Protection Orders
  • Special Guardianship, Placement & Adoption Orders
  • Child Protection Conferences & Pre-Proceedings
  • Domestic abuse and Child Arrangements matters
  • Prohibited Steps & Specific Issue Orders

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor (1-10 years PQE)
  • Children Panel Accreditation (or working towards) preferred
  • Strong experience in childcare law and Legal Aid work
  • Confident managing a busy caseload and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication and client care skills
  • Advocacy experience desirable (not essential)
  • Commercially aware with an interest in business development
