Water Mains Engineer Role: This is a customer-facing role where you'll be responsible for independently investigating and repairing external water supply issues, using a combination of technical knowledge, practical experience, and a safety-first customer focused mindset.
Responsibilities:
- Independently investigating and repairing external water supplies to domestic and commercial properties.
- Accurately identifying leak locations and determining ownership and liability for repair works.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools for excavation, pipefitting, and other tasks.
- Providing clear, reassuring communication to customers, explaining the work required and the process.
- Maintaining consistent and proactive communication with our Field Operations Team at HQ.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Leak detection techniques, including use of listening sticks, ground microphones, or other acoustic equipment.
- Experience with find & fix water supply repairs.
- Familiarity with trenchless pipe installation (moling) - desirable but not essential.
- Ability to create new points of entry for water supplies into buildings.
- Skilled in using a CAT scanner to identify underground service pipes and cables.
- Proficiency in reinstating surfaces to a high standard, including paving slabs, block paving, cold lay tarmac, and concrete.
