The Role
You’ll manage your own varied caseload of criminal matters, providing expert legal representation at both the Police Station and Magistrates Court. You’ll also play an active role in developing new business opportunities and building strong relationships within the local legal community. As part of the role, you’ll participate in the firm’s out-of-hours Police Station rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a busy caseload of criminal defence matters from instruction through to conclusion.
- Represent clients at Police Stations and Magistrates Courts.
- Participate in the out-of-hours Police Station rota.
- Deliver high levels of client care and professional legal advice.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, professional contacts and referral sources.
- Support business development initiatives and contribute to the continued growth of the department.
You’ll ideally have:
- A current practising certificate with the SRA or CILEX.
- At least 3 years' PQE in criminal law.
- Duty Solicitor accreditation, or a willingness to become Duty Qualified.
- The ability to manage your own caseload with minimal supervision.
- Excellent technical knowledge and procedural competence.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
