Our client is a well‑established, award‑winning independent accident repair centre based in Westcliff‑on‑Sea, with over 25 years of industry experience. Originally founded in the Midlands, the business has grown rapidly through organic expansion and continues to strengthen its reputation within the vehicle body repair sector. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced and professional Assistant Bodyshop Manager to support the day‑to‑day running of their busy workshop.
The Role
This is a varied and hands‑on position, combining workshop supervision, estimating, and customer service responsibilities. You will support the Bodyshop Manager in ensuring smooth operations, high productivity, and outstanding repair quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Bodyshop Manager in overseeing daily workshop operations and team coordination
- Help drive efficiency, productivity, and high levels of customer satisfaction
- Assess vehicle damage and prepare accurate repair estimates using systems such as Audatex
- Liaise with insurance companies, engineers, and customers regarding approvals and progress updates
- Allocate work to technicians based on skill set, workload, and repair priority
- Monitor repair progress to ensure deadlines and productivity targets are met
- Provide clear and professional updates to customers and handle any queries or concerns
- Order and manage parts and materials to minimise delays
- Identify additional damage during strip‑down and update estimates accordingly
- Carry out quality control checks to ensure repairs meet manufacturer and safety standards
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures within the workshop
- Maintain accurate documentation, repair records, and photographic evidence for insurance purposes
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have previous experience within an automotive Bodyshop environment
- Be experienced in preparing repair estimates and handling insurance‑related work
- Possess a strong understanding of vehicle repair processes and workflows
- Have excellent organisational and time‑management skills
- Be confident communicating with customers, insurers, and internal teams
- Be able to work under pressure and prioritise workload effectively
- Be familiar with estimating systems and workshop management software
