Manchester & surrounding areas

Monday to Friday with the occasional weekend and the option of overtime.

£30,000 - £40,000 basic salary + overtime (OTE £48,000+)

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Internal Leak Detection Engineer to join our clients growing team. This is a predominantly site-based role, working across the UK, carrying out detailed leak detection surveys and site assessments using a wide range of advanced technologies. This role is ideal for a skilled engineer who combines technical expertise with a logical, methodical approach to problem-solving. You will take pride in delivering precise results while minimising disruption for customers.

The Role

  • Conduct leak detection investigations on domestic water systems
  • Accurately locate leaks using both traditional and advanced technologies
  • Provide clear, cost-effective and least-invasive repair recommendations
  • Produce detailed site reports, including plans/layouts of water supply systems within property boundaries
  • Communicate findings clearly and confidently to customers, ensuring an excellent experience from start to finish
  • Carry out small-scale enabling works and reinstatements where required

Experience & Skills Required

  • Proven experience in leak detection, including:
    • Traditional listening stick methods
    • Ground microphones and acoustic correlators
    • Experience using CAT & GENNY equipment to locate underground services (including tracing metallic and plastic supply pipes via push wire reels)
    • Thermal imaging experience (desirable)
    • Knowledge of specialist leak detection technologies
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex and problematic mains water systems
    • Logical, methodical approach with minimal disturbance/excavation techniques
    • Experience reinstating domestic surfaces (e.g. paving slabs, block paving, etc.)
    • WIAPS approved (or equivalent) preferred
    • Strong written skills for generating detailed technical reports
    • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
    • Proven problem-solving ability
    • Full UK driving licence
    • Relevant certifications and formal training (advantageous)
