The Role:
To undertake hand soldering to PCBs in accordance with defined build instructions for a variety of major OEM’s in market sectors including Automotive, Clean Energy, Communication & Broadcasting, Consumer, Defence & Aerospace, Homeland Security, IP Development Platforms, Medical, Scientific Research & Space.
Main Responsibilities:
- Undertake product soldering in accordance with defined build instructions and IPC-A-610 and J-Std standards
- Dependent on experience, carry out board modifications to customer requirements
- Ensure all processes are stringently adhered to, any gaps or process improvements should be highlighted to your immediate supervision. They will ensure that effective remedial actions are taken in a timely manner including updating supporting documentation in QMS
- Compliance with the company Quality Standard and procedures
Skills and experience:
- Minimal requirement – Trained to IPC-A-610 and J-Std class 3 standards with demonstrable skills
- Modification knowledge/capabilities preferred but not mandatory
- Experience in product soldering to the relevant IPC standard always ensuring quality workmanship using mostly conventional (through hole) components although there will be occasional work with surface mount components.
- Attention to detail
- Able to follow customer drawings
- Ideal knowledge of colour codes for leaded resistors
- A current IPC certification would be a distinct advantage as would experience working to aerospace standards.
