We are looking for a SCADA Engineer based in Scotland. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems to monitor and control complex infrastructure projects. PTS would be preferred but is not essential.

Core Responsibilities

  • System Development & Integration: Designing, configuring, and testing HMI (Human Machine Interface) and SCADA applications, including developing standard objects, control faceplates, and display screens.
  • Fieldwork & Commissioning: Assisting with on-site SCADA system implementation, commissioning, and on-site testing for projects like substations or water infrastructure.
  • Documentation: Preparing high-quality engineering documentation, including Functional Design Specifications (FDS), System Design Descriptions (SDD), I/O lists, and test specifications.
  • Communication & Protocols: Working with PLC engineers to define control system architecture and configuring communication protocols (e.g., Modbus TCP/IP, OPC UA) to link sensors and field devices.
  • Collaboration: Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, mechanical, and IT departments, to ensure system integration and functionality.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhering strictly to health and safety standards (e.g., RAMS), environmental regulations, and project-specific contractual requirements.
  • Site Support: Conducting site visits to review control panel design and site-level monitoring equipment, supporting maintenance and troubleshooting.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in SCADA/HMI software (e.g., Rockwell FactoryTalk View, Wonderware) and PLC systems.
  • IT Skills: Strong IT proficiency, specifically with Microsoft Excel, SQL databases, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role within a regulated environment (e.g., Rail, nuclear, water, or energy) is usually preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
