The Role: This role will be mainly based in Scotland, with frequent travel to England and Wales, including regular overnight stays away from home. Ideally, you will be based in the Central Scotland or the Perth area. As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting your customers by installing, maintaining, and servicing a wide range of technical equipment in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-site installation, calibration, repair, maintenance, and testing of equipment.
- Diagnosing faults and technical issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Producing clear, detailed service reports.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers.
- Working closely with technical and other internal teams, sharing knowledge across the organisation.
- Understanding customer requirements and providing appropriate advice and recommendations.
Key Requirements:
- A relevant technical qualification and background.
- Proven field service experience with electronic equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting, testing, repair, and servicing skills.
- A self-motivated approach with a positive, “can-do” attitude.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and adapt to changing schedules, this will include weekends, nights and being on call for some public holidays.
- Familiarity with tools, test equipment, and Microsoft Office applications.
As much of the work is rail-based, experience within the rail industry and a valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification would be a significant advantage.
