Key Responsibilities
- Leadership of the Signal Sighting Committee: Chair meetings of the Signal Sighting Committee, providing authoritative technical and safety leadership. Coordinate participation across Network Rail, Train Operating Companies (TOCs), Freight Operating Companies (FOCs), and project engineering teams. Ensure structured, compliant, and evidence‑based decision‑making throughout the committee process.
- Standards Compliance and Technical Assurance: Apply mandatory requirements outlined in GE/RT8037 concerning signal positioning, visibility, reading time and human factors. Ensure compliance with supportive guidance such as GE/GN8537 and relevant group/functional standards. - Signal Sighting Form (SSF) Governance: Oversee preparation, review, and approval of draft and final Signal Sighting Forms (SSFs).
