MPI is looking for a Trainee Electrical Project Engineer for our client based in St. Albans.

Contract: Temp to Perm

Salary: £27000 - £30000/ Annum

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5h

The Company is a manufacturer of low voltage switchgear. The position of Trainee Electrical Project Engineer would be based at the Company premises located in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.

The ideal candidate should have completed a basic electrical course at college in recent years. Typical educational courses would include:

  • Electrical Installation
  • C&G NVQ Electrical
  • BTEC Electrical

The ideal candidate should also be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly in Word and Excel. The ability to use AutoCAD is desirable but not essential.

Training and support for this position will be provided. The successful candidate will be expected to learn as they develop into the role. This would include spending time in the manufacturing departments and providing administrative support to the electrical project engineers.

Ultimately (in time) the main roles with this position will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Controlling projects from receipt of contract to installation and commissioning.
  • Responsibility for all commercial and technical aspects of projects.
  • Liaise with clients and their representatives.
  • Attend site meetings with clients and their representatives.
  • Liaise with suppliers in ascertaining the suitability of electrical components for particular projects.
  • Liaise with the Company’s draughting engineers and production team.
  • Ability to design electrical control schematic diagrams.
