Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee civil infrastructure and surfacing works on a fast-paced project based in Leicester. The successful candidate will have strong experience managing roadways, drainage, and tarmac/asphalt operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification. This is initially a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site operations across highways, drainage, and surfacing works
- Coordinate subcontractors, labour, plant, and material deliveries
- Ensure works are completed in line with programme deadlines and quality standards
- Oversee road construction, kerbing, drainage installation, and tarmac surfacing activities
- Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with HSE regulations
- Liaise with clients, engineers, local authorities, and project stakeholders
- Produce progress reports and attend site meetings
- Identify and resolve site issues efficiently to minimise delays
- Ensure RAMS, permits, and site documentation are maintained correctly
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Construction Manager or Site Manager within civil engineering/highways projects
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and workstreams
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations and site safety requirements
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
