Overview
We are looking for a Commercial Manager for an ongoing project based in Birmingham. The initial contract is offered for a year but may be extended. You will be reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager and will provide the client with pre/post contract commercial support for designated projects, including subcontract, materials, and direct labour. You will ensure projects are successfully delivered within cost and time constraints and act as a primary interface to work with Project Managers, Work Package Managers, Key Stakeholders and Suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for project work package change control, cost/budget management, forecasting and mitigating risks
- Be the key commercial interface for responsible work package manager and providing contractual and commercial support to Project Managers and Engineering
- Provide input to internal and external commercial reports as required by Commercial Delivery Strategy
- Ensure processes and document control align with the appropriate company standards
- Maintain auditable records in accordance with contractual requirements
- Work and collaborate with key partners in finance, project management, engineering, sub-contractors, suppliers, and clients
- Have previous (Senior) Quantity Surveyor experience working within a contractor side project environment ideally within a similar or related industry e.g. rail, engineering, construction
- Be degree qualified and/or hold or working towards professional qualification (i.e., RICS, ICES)
- Handle both direct labour and subcontract costs; estimating change / variations; forecasting cost and measuring cost of work complete
- Be commercially savvy with good negotiation skills and ability to manage commercial strategies
- Work with limited supervision and under own initiative under cost or time critical conditions; managing expectations
- Be confident and able to deal externally and internally at all levels
