Overview

We are looking for a Commercial Manager for an ongoing project based in Birmingham. The initial contract is offered for a year but may be extended. You will be reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager and will provide the client with pre/post contract commercial support for designated projects, including subcontract, materials, and direct labour. You will ensure projects are successfully delivered within cost and time constraints and act as a primary interface to work with Project Managers, Work Package Managers, Key Stakeholders and Suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for project work package change control, cost/budget management, forecasting and mitigating risks
  • Be the key commercial interface for responsible work package manager and providing contractual and commercial support to Project Managers and Engineering
  • Provide input to internal and external commercial reports as required by Commercial Delivery Strategy
  • Ensure processes and document control align with the appropriate company standards
  • Maintain auditable records in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Work and collaborate with key partners in finance, project management, engineering, sub-contractors, suppliers, and clients
  • Have previous (Senior) Quantity Surveyor experience working within a contractor side project environment ideally within a similar or related industry e.g. rail, engineering, construction
  • Be degree qualified and/or hold or working towards professional qualification (i.e., RICS, ICES)
  • Handle both direct labour and subcontract costs; estimating change / variations; forecasting cost and measuring cost of work complete
  • Be commercially savvy with good negotiation skills and ability to manage commercial strategies
  • Work with limited supervision and under own initiative under cost or time critical conditions; managing expectations
  • Be confident and able to deal externally and internally at all levels
