The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a JDO Mechanical Equipment Engineer to join a major engineering project based at Hinkley Point C in Bridgwater. The successful candidate will provide technical engineering support for a wide range of mechanical equipment across the Nuclear Island, Conventional Island and Balance of Plant, working closely with design offices, suppliers and construction teams to resolve technical issues and deliver practical engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical clarification of engineering deliverables required for construction.
- Gather technical input data and update engineering assumptions and documentation.
- Perform mechanical stress analyses.
- Assess equipment anchorage capacity.
- Carry out valve calculations where required.
- Propose practical and proportionate equipment modifications.
- Resolve technical comments and open engineering points.
- Support manufacturing, construction and erection activities.
- Assess and integrate engineering modifications after package handover.
- Perform hand calculations and anchorage assessments.
- Review subcontractor calculation notes and engineering drawings.
- Recommend improvements to engineering studies.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures.
- Collaborate with CAD designers and detailers.
- Lead technical meetings with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related scientific discipline.
- 0-10 years of experience in specification, design, procurement or installation of mechanical equipment.
- Experience with mechanical calculations and engineering analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent English.
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of RCC-E code.
- French language skills.
- Field engineering experience.
- Experience using 2D and 3D design software.
- Experience within multicultural engineering environments.
- Previous experience on major nuclear or large industrial projects.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary technical topics.
