We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Accountancy Practice based in Bolton, Greater Manchester. This friendly and professional firm is seeking an experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone with previous practice experience who is confident managing a varied portfolio of clients.

The ideal candidate will be able to produce accounts up to trial balance and have hands-on experience using Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bookkeeping for a portfolio of approx. 30 clients using Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
  • Keeping client records accurate and up to date (both digital and paper-based)
  • Preparing and submitting monthly and quarterly VAT returns
  • Processing weekly/monthly payroll and CIS returns
  • Preparing annual accounts up to trial balance
  • Producing management accounts where required
  • Maintaining regular contact with clients and sending reminders to ensure timely submissions
  • Occasionally visiting clients on-site within the Northwest region

  • Prior experience working in an accountancy practice
  • Ability to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively
  • A team player willing to help with phone duties and general office tasks
  • Professional, organised, and approachable with a strong client focus
  • Full UK driving licence (travel to client sites may be required)
  • Confident, presentable, and professional in both appearance and communication
