HGV Class 1 Driver

Mpeople Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver to join a reputable and growing business based in Oldham (OL8) on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a varied role combining nationwide deliveries, customer interaction, vehicle demonstrations, and warehouse support.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering vehicles and equipment throughout the UK while providing a professional service to customers.

Oldham (OL8), with travel throughout the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Driving a 3.5 tonne box van and 40 tonne Volvo HGV with trailer across the UK.
  • Transporting and delivering small to medium-sized electric vehicles and equipment to customer sites nationwide.
  • Working closely with the sales, warehouse and office teams to coordinate delivery schedules and routes.
  • Loading and unloading vehicles and equipment at the Oldham depot and customer locations.
  • Operating a counterbalance FLT to move and load equipment.
  • Driving vehicles onto transporters and long-bed HGVs for delivery.
  • Providing customers with a brief demonstration of vehicles and equipment upon delivery.
  • Maintaining regular communication with office-based staff regarding delivery progress, traffic issues, route changes, vehicle issues, and customer requirements.
  • Ensuring customer expectations and delivery deadlines are met.
  • Travel Requirements
  • Nationwide deliveries including Scotland, Cornwall, Devon, the Isle of Wight, and other UK locations.
  • Regular overnight stays are required, averaging 2–3 nights per week.
  • Occasional ferry travel may be required for deliveries to Ireland, the Isle of Man, and other island locations.

Requirements

  • Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) Licence – essential.
  • Valid Counterbalance FLT Licence – essential.
  • Willingness to stay away from home overnight on a regular basis.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with customers and internal teams.
  • Professional and reliable approach to work.
  • Good customer service skills and confidence delivering product demonstrations.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to manage changing schedules and delivery requirements.
