Mpeople Recruitment have a fantastic new opportunity for an experienced Buyer (Procurement) to join a market-leading manufacturing business based in Middleton (M24). This is a great opportunity to join a forward-thinking yet well-established business that offers training and great opportunities for progression, as well as various other employee benefits.
Location: Middleton
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 dependent on experience
Hours: 8.30am – 5.30pm, Monday to Thursday, & 8.30am – 4.30pm Fridays
Employee benefits: Private healthcare plan, progression opportunities, company profit related bonus scheme etc.
Responsibilities would include:
- Processing purchase orders
- Negotiating prices
- Obtaining quotes from suppliers and feeding information back to the relevant departments
- Ensuring products are delivered on time
- Following up non-delivered supplier purchase orders and back orders
- Setting up and maintaining stock records as and when required
- Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers
- Setting up new supplier accounts
- Keeping the approved supplier list up to date
- Booking in deliveries when required
- Reconciliation of monthly credit card statement
- Assisting with any invoice queries
- Updating our central materials library
- Manage price change/information changes
- Assisting with the biannual stock take input
- Assisting with the maintenance of our central materials library
- Assisting with the implementation of a new stock system
The desired candidate would have the following experience, skills and attributes:
- Minimum 3 years working in a buying role
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment would be a distinct advantage
- Excellent Excel skills and Sage 200 experience
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Good organisation skills and the ability to multitask
- Experience working to tight deadlines and in an often-pressured environment
- Driven and determined
- Team player
- Honest and reliable
- High level of quality control and attention to detail
